The representative of these new composing idols is the group TVXQ. All the members of the group are capable of composing and writing lyrics.

They have released around 20 self-composed songs in Korea and Japan. It is said that they have around 100 unreleased songs that they composed and wrote lyrics for.

TV PIA MAGAZINE – Yunho: “I Am A Hardworking Person”

Yunho starred in the television drama [No Limit~ Heading To The Ground], and took up the challenge of portraying the character of Bong Gun, who is passionate yet constantly gets into trouble.

“Bong Gun is someone who is very innocent. Even when he faces an obstacle, and it is very tough, he will work very hard to overcome the obstacle, and in the process of it, mature at the same time. This is quite similar to my own life experience and that was why I wanted to try out for this character. I also met up with numerous obstacles and challenges before my debut, but I always believed that I would make it on stage one day, and this belief is very similar to that of Bong Gun’s.”

SM's Application To "Enhance" "Dong Bang Shin Ki" As A Trademark Has Been Withdrawn

SM, the company which manages DBSK, has been informed about its withdrawal regarding its trademark application for the name "Dong Bang Shin Ki".

SM, who had applied for the trademark application for "DBSK" to the Patent Office in August last year, later withdrew their application towards the end of the year.

We wrote previously on the blog on 20 April that Xiah Junsu will be coming to SMART!

Junsu caused an extremely strong response when he appeared in the February issue of SMART4.
Junsu himself was very satisfied with the photo shoot back then.
Currently, amidst his promotions for his solo CD, he has once again come to SMART!

Everyone must know that it is an ideal combination to have a top artiste modeling for a top luxurious brand, and only SMART is about to bring such special planning into reality!

In order to show our appreciation, we have enclosed a report on our photo shoot!

On a certain day in April, in Tokyo Art Studio, months of detailed negotiations are finally coming to reality.

Due to the combination of a superstar and a big brand, SMART’s photo shoot will be slightly different this time round, and a peculiar atmosphere is overflowing within the studio.

The photographer and costume stylist arrived at the studio half an hour before Junsu to do all the preparation works.

As for me, I was also all over the place, confirming the costumes with the costume stylist and discussing the process of the photo shoot. However, there was an unexplainable nervousness in my heart.

I met Junsu once through a photo shoot, but of course, that was already three months ago. I wonder if the busy Junsu will remember me from the previous SMART photo shoot…

Also, as he was busy with his recordings and the filming of his music video…
“How is his condition today?”
“Is it very tiring?”
Et cetera, et cetra...my mind was really filled with such questions and thoughts as I prepared for the photo shoot.

Unknowingly, it was time for Junsu to arrive.
Moreover, within the scheduled time, the door to the studio elevator opened and Junsu stepped out along with his manager!

The presence of a star is indeed different!
Even though we have met before, I can still feel the difference.

Just as I was about to go up to greet him, Junsu beat me to it, and with a radiant smile on his face, said, “Ah~ Mr. Igarashi, it has been a long time! Thank you so much for the previous photo shoot!”

He actually remembered meeting me from three months before… This is really not a joke, but I was so happy that tears starting to form in my eyes!

We began discussing the details in a happy atmosphere and we will disclose the details in the next blog post!

Choi Siwon is responsible for Super Junior’s toned bodies

Popular idol group Super Junior recently came back to the k-pop scene with their new album and transformed looks, causing a great interest among fans.

In contrast to their usual quirky and funny selves, 10 of the Super Junior members came back with tight abs and noticeable arm muscles. They are now being referred to as “beast idols” much like idol group 2PM because of their athletic looking bodies.

 

After releasing their fourth album from the 14th to the 16th, they have been performing their title song BONAMANA and appearing on various music shows, including KBS Music Bank, MBC Music Core, and SBS Inkigayo.

On the 18th, SM Entertainment explained, “Most of the Super Junior members exercised very hard and placed a lot of effort into shaping their bodies for the upcoming album.” The company then continued, “Super Junior started to exercise as a hobby because fellow member Choi Siwon had an interest in exercising for a long time.”

I guess the Super Junior members were either jealous of or inspired by Choi Siwon’s Greek God-like body and began to take better care of their own figures as well. The results seem well worth it as ELFs all over the world are enjoying the enhanced eye candy.

Sunny and Tiffany are on Fire in 1000 Song Challenge

Last week, SNSD’s Sunny and Tiffany performed T-ara’s Bo Beep Bo Peep on 1000 Song Challenge wearing the stuffed bear paws as additional props. On the most recent episode of the show, they continued to belt more notes and even busted out their rapping skills to 2AM’s This Song, 2NE1’s Fire, 4minute’s Hot Issue, Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry, among others.

What stood out to me the most, though, (aside from the MC’s hilarious proclamation when his favorite song was played) was their rendition of Davichi’s 8282. Aside from the fact that the song is not an easy one to sing, Tiffany managed to pull it off rather well, with Sunny supporting her with harmonization.

2PM’s Nichkhun endorses Minute Maid

The 4th Musical Awards Nominees for “Best Newcomer” – Xiah Junsu

Termed as the ‘new blood’, the nominees for ‘Best Newcomer’ in the “4th The Musical Awards” have caused a new flurry of activity within the Arts scene.

In one of Korea’s most prestigious musical theatre event “The Musical Awards”, even the newcomers have attracted a whole lot of attention.
From the appearances of idol star Xiah Junsu, senior ballet dancer Kim Ju Yeon and ex-Miss Korea Lee Ha-nui, one can see that the scope of the musical scene has indeed widened. SONGS Interview – XIAH JUNSU

Junsu, who dominated the music scene with vocal group DBSK, has now released a single as “XIAH junsu”. The single is named [XIAH]. Through Junsu’s vocals, which is termed as the “Voice of Asia”, this completed work is a collection of a dance track that displays a strong sense of maturity and a ballad, a genre that Junsu excels in. As an actor he took a new step, we asked him about the drama and his decision for the future-

The drama Yunho was the main character of and his real actor debut drama is going to be on DVD!
“In the beginning there was pressure but I thought if I work hard the viewers will understand so I was able to enjoy it. The character I played, Cha Bong-gun has a pure heart in the beginning. But as he meets many people he matures. At the same time I think I was able to mature with him.”

He talked how it is different from an artist who has to act/express in 3 minutes during a song.
“I want to challenge a character that’s different from Bong-gun. Like a bad guy, or a sad character. The actor I look up to is Johnny Depp. I envy how he is attractive even if a kid sees him or even if an adult sees him.”

And what we want to know is as Yunho what he wants to challenge in the future.
“Even if I get a chance, if I think I shouldn’t do it yet I won’t do it. If I had a chance and when I have confidence then I want to challenge. Then I want to show everyone how I am challenging passionately. My motto is ‘a genius can’t win a hard working person’. I think im proud that everytime I do something I work hard. So that’s why I want to be more hard working. And for singing and acting I want to become Yunho who levels up so please watch over me.”

“Avatar” producers to film BoA, TVXQ concerts in 3D

Korean idol group TVXQ performing at concert [SM Entertainment]

Director James Cameron and his team of producers behind Hollywood blockbuster pic “Avatar” have agreed to produce the music videos and concert videos for BoA, TVXQ and other artists under agency SM Entertainment (SM) in 3D format.

Cameron — currently in town for the annual Seoul Digital Forum — met with Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics’ executives and SM founder Lee Soo-man at the “3D Content-Related Cooperation Plan” event, held today at Samsung offices in Seocho District, where they announced news of the collaboration.

Will DBSK Work Together Again Due To Cameron’s 3D-Technology?

Whether or not DBSK, who is on the verge of disbandment, will work together again for James Cameron’s 3D-image technology, has become the focus of attention of the public.

Through a tripartite cooperation amongst SM Entertainment, Samsung Electronics and James Cameron, who is the director of the Hollywood blockbuster movie, Avatar, SM Entertainment will recreate and reproduce the music videos and live concerts of its artistes into 3D-images to be broadcast on worldwide home theaters, and DBSK is among the ranks.

Preview of Xiah Junsu’s upcoming appearance on Music Fair

 TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki’s Xiah Junsu is scheduled to release his debut solo album XIAH on May 26th with the title track being Intoxication. But before that happens, Xiah will make an appearance on FujiTV’s Music Fair and a preview for the upcoming show was released earlier today.

This particular episode is scheduled to air on May 22nd but was filmed earlier in the week. Judging by the preview it seems like Xiah will be the only male guest on the show. It’s been reported that the guests sang songs by Bob Marley and Xiah performed Intoxication. Check out the preview below!

MBLAQ’s Thunder for Tropicana CF

As the boys of MBLAQ prepare for their comeback on the 18th, it seems one of the members has scored a nice endorsement deal. MBLAQ member Thunder also known as the younger sibling of 2NE1’s Sandara Park is featured in a new CF (Commercial Film) for Tropicana Sparkling.

The background music from the CF is from their upcoming title track Y and the tag line for the CF is “Boys, Be Real…” No word on if the other members will have their own CF’s but I would expect so.

Thanks to Linda (Tamayama Tetsuji) Nakaji (Eita) was able to get a job at where Okuda (Watanabe Eri) is the editor of the magazine “IT”. He accepted the job and Nakaji decides to give Kiriko (Igawa Haruka) a present. On the other hand, Haru (Ueno Juri) was physically and mentally devastated from getting attacked by Matsushima’s group but doesn’t want her mother *Shoko (Fubuki Jun) to worry so she continues to go to work. Doctor (Jaejoong) helped Haru, she was moved by his kindness and decides to date him.

 

One day, while Nakaji was at work he visits Peach’s (Seki Megumi) store. But right then Haru contacts Nakaji. Nakji notices that Haru seems weird and runs to where she is but….

Okay, so continuing with the magazine “WHAT’s IN?” behind the scene story *laugh*
This time we were interviewing at the photo shoot setting, during the interview it seemed that there was something that attracted Junsu. He was seriously talking about music but all of the sudden he said “what?” and asked me “that person is….?” while looking at the camera-man who was getting ready for the photo shoot. I said “oh yeah, the cameraman! I’ll introduce you later” then with his eyes shining he said “oh~!” *laugh*. Because this time for the photo shoot we had an foreigner Jeff Johnson.

After the interview, Junsu went to go change and came back. Very brightly he runs towards Jeff-san saying “Nice to meet you! How are you?”. After shaking hands passionately, he started his photo shoot! Jeff-san asked him “oh, are you okay with English?” he answered “oh~! NO! NO! I can’t speak at all~! that was just all my strength~,hahaha”. Its been awhile since I saw Junsu but Junsu is Junsu *laugh*. During the photo shoot he said “we are both foreigners but it’s weird that we are talking in Japanese~”. that is true! Different from the peaceful atmosphere we were able to take very handsome pictures. Please check it out!

Wonder Girls’ 2 Different Tears Released!

 

The long wait is over! Wonderfuls, rejoice! Wonder Girls have released their new single: 2 Different Tears.

It seems that the Wonder Girls didn’t fail to deliver! After promising a fresh and new concept, and over a year in waiting, they have released their first ever U.S.

The album also features the promised English versions of their hit singles: Tell Me and So Hot. And JYP gives us yet another surprise! Despite Sunmi’s temporary leave from the Wonder Girls, it seems her voice can still be heard in the English versions of So Hot and Tell Me.

The Wonder Girls did not disappoint and I believe that Wonderfuls all around the world will agree with me. The girls presented a fresh new image, not giving in to the dark concept looming over Kpop. Its catchy beat and beautiful voices of the girls certainly do make for some good ear candy.

Super Junior’s "Bonamana" dominates on the Internet

There’s no doubt that the Hallyu wave has been going global over the past few years, with the kpop movement spreading its tendrils over websites that have widely international audiences. And you should never underestimate the power of Super Junior: it’s only been a few days since the thirteen-member group released their Bonamana music video & fourth album, and it feels like they’ve taken over the Internet!

Aside from the advent of Korean celebrities on Twitter, kpop-related keywords (including #allkpop!) have made it to Twitter’s “Trending Topics” list multiple times in the past, generating curiosity and attention from Twitter users worldwide. However, Super Junior has truly upped the ante this time – the term Bonamana hit the Top Ten within an hour of its track release on May 10 and has been hangin’ out on the Trend List for not one day, not two… but four!

At the moment, “Bonamana” has dropped to second place… and you can only guess what’s first.

What a way to welcome Super Junior’s live comeback on Music Bank tonight!

But anyway – although it was impressive to see this term trending after the track release, who knew that its fifteen minutes of fame on Twitter would actually persevere for so long? In fact, “Bonamana” actually disappeared from the list two days ago only to reemerge yet again with strong fervor, where it sits even now as I type these words. Even the related term #SujuBeauty (“Beauty” is the translation of the Korean title of this track, 미인아) hit #3 on the list on Thursday.

Considering the fact that Twitter has well over twenty million users worldwide, that’s quite a bit of global publicity for both Bonamana, especially since the Internet makes it so accessible for people to search up information about this track and Super Junior. Who knows – maybe SuJu’s gained some new fans simply through Twitter publicity alone.

Aside from Twitter, Super Junior has also racked up quite a number of views on Youtube, with over one million views on the official music video. When you add the views from fan-uploaded videos to that, that’s over two million hits on Youtube alone.

After the track release on May 10, the term Bonamana was also topping search lists on Nate and Naver, and promptly generated results on Google’s ’suggestions’ list within hours.

Now all I need to know is what Bonamana means, exactly… but in all seriousness, this is pretty impressive! Stay tuned for more on SuJu’s big return to the music scene.

Record high of 200,000 preorders for Super Junior 4th album ‘BonaMana’

Super Junior achieved a record of 200K pre-orders for their upcoming 4th album ‘Bona Mana'.

Set to be released on the 13th, the upcoming 4th album has received 64,800 online and 133,685 offline preorders totalling to 198,485 preorders. It seems there is great interests from fans for the group’s new album.

Back in 2009, the group achieved a record high of 250K album sales with their 3rd album ‘Sorry Sorry’ and even received a Golden Disk for it. It seems like this ‘album kings’ are set to do the same for the 2nd year with their new album.

The album will have 11 tracks in it. And a version A album will be released on 13th May while version B album will be released on the 20th.

Meanwhile, the group is set for their comeback stage on 14th May on KBS Music Bank.

2 TVXQ Members “We will work hard for activities to produce a good 3D content”

Singer BoA together with 2 members of TVXQ U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin finally appeared in front of Korean public after a long time.

The three on May 14th at 11:00 am attended SM Entertainment and Samsung Electronics’ collaboration press conference in regards to expansion of 3D-related content, meanwhile the producer of the agency, Lee Soo Man attended along with them.
