TVXQ's power, Jung Yunho's power!
MBC's drama "Heading to the Ground," (written by Kim Solji, directed by Park Sung-su) that airs Wednesdays and Thursdays, with which TVXQ's U-Know Yunho made his acting debut as Jung Yunho, is seeing considerable benefit due to headstrong fans.
The crew of "Heading to the Ground" recently invited fans to come out to the set in order to fill the stands of the Seoul Samangdong Olympic Stadium to film a scene for the drama involving a soccer game. Approximately 6000 fans flocked to the stands and the staff of "Heading to the Ground" were able to capture an even more realistic scene beacause of it.
Because the vast majority of the fans were female, after hiring a number of male extras, the crew was able to make use of computer technology to create the picture of full stands filled with enthusiastic fans. According to one crew memeber, "If you consider the daily wages for a single extra in addition to what ever miscellaneous fees may be necessary, it adds up to about 6 0000 won per person. This would mean that 360 000 000 won, so close to 400 000 000 (a little over 300 000 USD) won was saved because of the fans."
It has also later been revealed that fans have also been responsible for the extraordinary amounts of food provided for the crew of "Heading to the Ground." Though there is a constant crowd of about several dozen fans observing the filming of the drama, according to an insider account on the scene, there are hardly any cases of them getting out of control or being too loud.
Director Park Sung-su has stated on the matter of Yunho's fans that constantly fill up the set, that "even though there are a lot of people on set, the filming is moving along a lot better than I originally thought." He laughed that, "Just like how Moses split the Red Sea, there are a lot of amazing things going on while on the set, like having a crowd of people split to clear the angle for the camera in just 20 seconds."
Making his acting debut with the role of the stubborn soccer player, Cha Bong-goon, in "Heading to the Ground," Jung Yunho is stepping up to the challenge of acting for the first time. Coming on to the set with passion, Jung Yunho is gaining popularity with not only the fans but with the staff as well.
An insider report concluded that "Yunho has amazing determination and enthusiasm for the project- so much so that he is willing to cling 5 hours on to a pole to film a mere few scenes. He is showing constant improvement in his performance, and is popular on the filming set, being polite and cheerful."
