Super Show 2 in Manila Almost Caused a Stampede?

International fans are well aware of Super Junior’s very warm welcome during their arrival in the Philippines on April 9th.

As reported by the local media, Super Junior fans almost created a stampede as they rushed to greet their idols while they were boarding their cars at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

Screaming fan girls were pushed and shoved as airport security tried to clear the way so Super Junior’s vehicles can pass by. In the end, those who joined the overexcited “welcoming committee” did not mind the harsh treatment by the security as most of them were just glad to finally see Super Junior in person.

But more than what the local news has reported, it seems that before the start of the show itself, some fans had been treated with more “force” than necessary.

These fancams were taken at the entrance of the SVIP Left section at Araneta Coliseum.

In the video, fans can be heard shouting: “Pila! Pila!” (“Please fall in line!” in Filipino)

Fans assigned to the SVIP Left section were asked to form a line after surrendering their tickets at the concert gates. However, instead of allowing those who entered the venue first to go directly inside the patron section (the Standing Area), the guards made everyone form a new line inside the coliseum.

As the audience (composed mainly of females aged 13 and up) began to flock at the entrance, the organizers let those who stood at the first row of the new line in. This infuriated the other fans who have been relegated to other lines.

The owner of the video told KPOPLIVE: “My friends and I camped out in front of Araneta since 9 pm the other day (just so we could get a good spot in the concert), we slept in front of the venue! And then they (guards) let us form another line inside the coliseum! Those who arrived late will get the good seats just because they happened to fall in line first (when the organizers formed another one inside Araneta)!”

Irate fans then tried to push their way inside the Patron section of the Coliseum while bouncers and guards tried to block them off.

“I fell down at the steps! The security did not even try to help me. They even wanted me to get back in line!” the source added.

Some protested at the way the security in Super Show 2 treated the audience. Banners which were painstakingly prepared the day before the concert have been rudely confiscated by the bouncers (venue guards) even if they adhered to the 8 1/2″ x 11″ board size requirement told by the organizers.

“This was acceptable if only they implemented this rule to everyone in the concert!” Another fan told KPOPLIVE.

At the start of the show, banners and all sorts of “Banned” items (such as stuffed toys, tarpaulins, light sticks, DSLR cameras) that some fans managed to sneak in were used.
