TVXQ members to go head to head next year

MANILA, Philippines — The five members that originally comprised boy band TVXQ will be competing head to head for fans’ attention and album sales next year.

TVXQ is now split into two groups: JYJ, which is composed of Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Youngwoong Jaejoong; and the duo Yunho and Changmin.

JYJ was formed early this year and stormed the international music scene with the release of its first English album and the showcases they've held in the US and Asian cities.

Recently, SM Entertainment said Yunho and Changmin will make a comeback in January and use the name “TVXQ” despite that it won't be comprised by complete members.

Last Dec. 2, AVEX, through the Tohoshinki (TVXQ’s name in Japan) website, announced that Yunho and Changmin will be releasing their first single as a duo on Jan. 26.

A day earlier, the duo released a statement for their Japanese fans, claiming that they suffered during their year-long hiatus.

“During our long one-year rest, we have discussed with the company about the troubles; and in the end, we concluded that this is where we belong to, and we will continue to protect Tohoshinki,” Yunho and Changmin said in a translated statement by fan site onetvxq.com.

Fans are excited for the duo’s comeback, saying they will finally see them again perform on stage.

JYJ broke away from TVXQ after they sued SM Entertainment last year to void their 13-year exclusive contracts. The three formed JYJ and didn’t use TVXQ to avoid any copyright lawsuit from SM Entertainment.

JYJ’s lawsuit against SME is still pending with a Seoul court.
