SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Yonhap) — The South Korean performance of the musical “Dorian Gray” kicked off on Sept. 3 at the Seongnam Arts Center in Gyeonggi Province, southeast of Seoul.
XIA Junsu of K-pop boy group JYJ and veteran musical actors Park Eun-tae and Choi Jae-young co-star in the musical, set to run through Oct. 29.
The creative musical is a theatrical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” a Victorian novel that portrays a young aristocrat’s desire for eternal youth and beauty at the expense of his soul.
In the musical, Junsu plays the handsome and narcissistic Dorian Gray, who becomes a devoted follower of nobleman Henry Wotton, played by Park. Choi plays Basil Hallward, a gifted painter and man of virtue who becomes infatuated with Dorian’s beauty and naivete.
