Oh Won Bin leaves FT Island,

FT Island member Oh WonBin(19) has left the group on the grounds of reason that he has differing music views as the group.

FT Island’s company said on 28th January, “WonBin, who played the guitar on the team, has left the team. It was a hard decision for WonBin too.”

Meanwhile, FT Island will look for a new member and they will release a new minialbum in mid-February.

News have it that trainee Song Seung Hyun will enter as the new member, but nothing isn’t very much confirmed yet.

Ahn So Hee Actual Film Debut When She Was 12 Years Old

Fans of Ahn So Hee, the maknae member of the Wonder Girls, have managed to found her debut film taken five years ago when she was just an elementary school student. So Hee played a minor role in a short film directed by Yu Dae Eol, twin brother of singer Naul who is the vocal for Brown Eyed Soul.

So Hee’s fans dug up film archives of her film debut after director Yu posted a photo taken with So Hee on his personal homepage with his comments about being delighted that So Hee still remembered him after all these years. Most thought that her film debut was the 2008 movie release I Like It Hot.

In the footage disclosed on yoUeFO, an online site for short films, So Hee looked exactly like how she is now, only smaller, with long straight hair and babyish face. Her part lasted only three minutes in the 21-minute film, but her portion has been circulated in a number of blogs and fan cafes. Meanwhile, the Wonder Girls are currently getting ready for their concert set for mid-March.

Korean male star Hyun Bin has lately caught the eye of casual wear brand ‘Basic House’ and has replaced Olympics swimming gold medallist Park Tae-Hwan as the spokesperson for the new season. Together with female spokesperson Yoon Eun-Hye, they will welcome the 10th anniversary of the brand, and launch a series of new campaigns.

Bi Rain to serve coffee

Rain (Bi) will start serving coffee soon. Last year in August, Rain purchased a two story building (1024m sq) in Seoul that cost 15,000,000,000 won, or a little less than 11 million dollars. At the time Rain was said to have been planning on using it to run his own entertainment company, but guess not. He’ll be turning it into a “Rain café”.

The renovation and interior designs of the café will cost about 2,000,000,000 won, or 1.5 million dollars. Rain is conducting this business separately from his entertainment company, but his rep stated that Rain has always wanted to open a “luxury café”. Se7en to release American single album on Valentines’ Day,

Singer Se7en will finally release his American single album and his debut song will be ‘Girlz’.

Se7en’s company YG Entertainment said, “We will first release Se7en’s single album as digitial single. We are working at releasing it on 14th February which is also Valentines’ Day.” We will finally get to see the result of Se7en’s 2 years preparation for the American market.

Se7en first had his press conference on his American debut in 2006 October. And last May, he did a preview party in Los Angeles and he also did a showcase in December last year.

His debut song ‘Girlz’ will also feauture famous female rapper Lil Kim.

While Se7en is set to release his debut single album on 14th February, BoA will also be releasing her debut full album ‘BoA‘ on 17th March with the title song ‘I Did It For Love’.

Jang Geun Seuk Picks Beethoven Virus Over Boys Before Flowers

It was close but didn’t happen. It was revealed that Jang Geun Seuk was a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo during the initial casting for the roles in KBS Boys Before Flowers, but Lee Min Ho got the role in the end.

Boys Before Flowers went through a long period of casting and auditions last year before beginning its broadcast on 5th January. Many were concerned over the casting for the popular adapation of the Japanese manga which has millions of readers worldwide and had been made into a drama in Taiwan and Japan over the past few years. But the initial casting stage wasn’t plain sailing.

According to someone from KBS, Jang Geun Seuk had been a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo but he wanted the role of Yoon Ji Ho instead. Group Eight, the production company behind Boys Before Flowers expressed that SS501 leader, Kim Hyun Joong had already been pre-selected for the role already. And this explains why there was a long delay in confirming Kim Hyun Joong for Boys Before Flowers even though there were rumors then. Thus, a competition started brewing between Jang Geuk Seuk and Kim Hyun Joong for the role of Yoon Ji Ho.

At the same time, fans of Kim Hyun Joong started leaving messages for Group Eight, expressing that Hyun Joong was most definitely able to portray the character and also sent in photos of Hyun Joong which resembled Yoon Ji Ho a lot to strengthen their case. In the end, Jang Geun Seuk gave up on the role automatically after failing to get a definite response from Group Eight and took on Beethoven Virus.

a new star?

He has not yet made a huge name for himself but Aliks is known for his kpop mashups and remixes that can be found on Facebook, Myspace, and Youtube. Interview starts here How did you get started with remixing kpop? It was just all for personal use really. I just posted it to show a friend or two so that they could critique my skills and people just one day started subscribing/adding me. haha I'm still not very used to it. it was sort of all accidental, but I'm glad that people like it. Do you DJ anywhere live? I actually just DJ for fun, never got the chance to DJ for a huge audience or anything though. I do have my mixes played at clubs though by other DJ friends. I'm learning to DVDJ at the moment too. Ever think about doing any production yourself? Like non-remixes? Perhaps when I have time in the summer and find a singer to work with. Time being, I'm just putting beats I've made so far and altering them with Korean tracks that seem to fit. So how long does it usually take you to remix a song? If it's a mashup like 5-30 minutes depending on how finished I want it to sound. But if it's a full out remix probably 5 hours at the very least and maybe 30 hours at the very most. I went to watch the "Ontama Carnival 09", and entered the venue at 4pm because of the long distance. TVXQ had not yet appeared, and "Perfume" was performing when I entered. The place was very lively and there was a short break after Perfume's performance. Now, there were already many TVXQ fans, and they seemed to have arrived at around 2pm, before the show had even started. After the break, Koda Kumi came to perform, and she managed to liven up the atmosphere further. Gradually, the words "TVXQ" started to appear on the screen, at around 6pm. It was slightly later than we expected, but we were still elated to see TVXQ.

1. Purple Line- I haven't heard PL in a long time. Both Yoochun and Junsu's hairstyles had returned to the way it was a year ago during the PL era, which is great. Everyone was wearing wine-red shirts with leather jackets of different styles outside.

2. Summer Dream- After saying, "We are TVXQ", Jaejoong greeted us and everyone was panting away heavily because of the dance. Yunho wanted a change of atmosphere and to sing a ballad, but it had been a long time since SD. This reminded me of SD in 2007, and the fanmeeting at Heyx3. The fanmeeting was swelteringly warm, it was really bad. This is a song that revives people in summer.

3. Doushite Kimi wo Sukininatte Shimattandarou?- It sounded exactly like it did during the Kohaku. Jaejoong's voice really made us feel like working harder.

4. Bolero- The song started with Yoochun introducing it as "the single that is going to be released on 21/1, please enjoy". Everyone sounded really familiar with the song, it must've been the result of repeatedly singing it the past few days.

5. Mirotic- It looked really interesting watching Jaejoong perform at the start, and the song was a remix, sounded good.

TVXQ: no lunar holiday

TVXQ has no holiday, Rain has reunion with father

According to a Taiwanese Newspaper, while snow is falling over Korea and everyone is busy celebrating Lunar New Year, idol groups TVXQ and SS501 have no breaks and are busy performing in Japan. Rain, on the other hand, flew back to Korea from Australia to have reunion dinner with his father after completing his CF shooting.

Currently, TVXQ's 25th Japanese single "Bolero" has topped the Japanese charts and they are busy promoting the single. They have also apologized to their family for not being able to celebrate Lunar New Year with them.

Meanwhile, Rain flew back to be with his family and to do promotion activities for his concert shortly after finishing filming in Australia.

Yoon Eun Hye’s Love Triangle

Yoon Eun Hye will be making her long awaited comeback on “Lady Castle,” a new drama series involving wealthy families, heiresses (no, not Paris Hilton), and love interests in the form of Kang Dong Won and Lee Seung Gi. “Lady Castle” shares the “falling in love with rich boy/girl” concept with Boys Over Flowers, playing on the fan girls’ (and boys’) fantasies of finding a modern day prince/princess and being blessed with an unbelievable amount of good fortune.

Yoon Eun Hye will be playing the lead role of a wealthy heiress caught up in a possible (surprise!) love triangle with a poor steward (Kang Dong Won) and the son of another wealthy family (by Lee Seung Gi). This will be Kang Dong Won’s first small screen appearance in 5 years, and fans are already starting to anticipate. As for Lee Seung Gi, he’s a newbie in the acting career, who will be playing Kang Dong Won’s rival. We’ll see which of the two manages to capture the heart of the pretty rich girl.

Due to a previous scandal involving money, the production company for “Lady Castle” has been banned from airing any of its works on the three major TV broadcasting stations. Kim Hyun Joong almost died three times?

SS501's Kim Hyun Joong made a shocking confession on the January 26th SBS Yashinmanman Show. He confesses that he almost died, not once, not twice but a SHOCKING three times over a period of six months while he lived as a runaway. He left home during his sophomore year of high school and lived like a bum with friends and local transients. He almost died from starvation, and was almost beaten to death. From what I understand he also was close to death by being almost fatally squished.

Kim Hyun Joong said that he was starving to the point that he and his friends ordered food at a restaurant, ate, and then ran away without paying with fistfuls of fried foods in hand. Wow, what a badass.

On the time he was almost beaten to death, Hyun Joong says that he and his ragtag group of friends ran into the a couple of drunken thugs and and got into a not-so-friendly argument, which resulted in his friend being beaten by the gangsters. Hyun Joong jumped in the middle of the beating, being beaten himself and luckily rendered the assailant unconscious by slipping on some newly fallen snow.

His final encounter with Death was when he was sleeping at an apartment complex construction site and was awaken just in time by the loud construction noises. Later he saw that the entire area was demolished except for the spot where he had been asleep just moments earlier.

And now it's been revealed that this miracle boy runs a chicken shop with his friends (based on a pact he made with his preschool friends) and he also made 100 million won (around $75,000) by working all kinds of jobs. He says he hasn't relied on his parents for money since junior high.

South Korea's five-group, TVXQ's 25th and first single of the year "Bolero/Kiss The Baby Sky/Wasurenaide" had sales of 890,00, and won the first week with the debut singles rankings.

TVXQ, in 2008 released "Beautiful you / Senen Koi Uta" on April, "Why did I fall in love with you?" on July, and "Jumon-MIROTIC-" on October and all four gained lead in a row. In total, since the release in January 2009 of the single "Purple Line", including the following five singles, they have made a record as the foreign artist with the most number of no.1 singles.

The title song "Bolero", was the theme song for the movie - Subaru - NTV Zoom in SUPER! Zoom SUPER, the Zoom in! Saturday, the theme of the autumn weather was "Kiss The Baby Sky" and a song written by one of the members, "Wasurenaide" was all included in this three song-Triple-A single. The CD cover has the photograph of the actress that appeared in Subaru, Meisa Kuroki.

Infinity Challenge: Boys Over Flowers Parody

From the masters of parodies and comedy for that matter, comes a parody on KBS' "Boys Over Flowers."

The Infinity Challenge (무한도전) crew will be airing their parody of the hit KBS drama "Boys Over Flowers" in February. Park Myungsoo will be playing the role of F4's leader Goo Junpyo (Lee Minho), Yoo Jaesuk will be Yoon Jihoo (Kim Hyun Joong), Junjin will be Geum Danji (Koo Hye Sun), Jung Hyung Don will be Jandi's friend Gaeul, Jung Junha will be Song Woo Bin (Kim Joon), and Noh Hongchul will be So Yijung (Kim Bum).

Kim So Eun Hints At Possible Boys Before Flowers Happy Ending

Kim So Eun expressed in a recent interview that she hopes that there will be a happy ending in KBS Boys Before Flowers for her and Kim Bum.

Kim So Eun expressed that she knows that Gal Eul (Kim So Eun) and Yi Jung (Kim Bum) doesn’t have a love relationship in the original manga at all but remained optimistic. She said, “I have a small wish. And that is wishing that my character and Yi Jung can have a happy ending in Boys Before Flowers.” She shly added, “There seems to be a happier ending in the Korean version.”

Kim So Eun was also very grateful to Goo Hye Sun for taking really good care of her. Although Kim So Eun (19) and Goo Hye Sun (24) have a age difference of 5 years, they have become best of friends off and on set and So Eun would ask the experienced Hye Sun for tips whenever she encounter difficulties.

So Eun said, “Really have to thank Goo Hye sun unnie for taking really good care of me. Goo Hye Sun unnie is different from the other casts. She is outgoing, straightforward and gets along very well with everyone on the filming set. She is someone whom you can get along with easily and feel comfortable.”

So Eun concluded, “Goo Hye Sun unnie really treated everyone very well. During our overseas filming in New Caledonia, the food being served wasn’t really good and suitable and we suffered a lot. But unnie prepared additional food for us and took care of us in a very friendly manner. Really thankful to her.”

Sandara Park talks about her first TV role in Korea

Former teen star Sandara Park happily shared some good news about her acting career in South Korea with ABS-CBN.com. Ever since she spent a few days in Manila last August 2008 for a vacation and an appearance on ASAP ’08, Kapamilyas have been waiting for Sandara to appear in Koreanovelas. After a year of training and hard work, Sandara has landed a cameo role in the Korean historical drama, The Return of Iljime.

“I’m not sure when exactly I auditioned but I think it was late 2007. It was so long, isn't it? I met Director Hwang (director of hit Korean drama Princess Hours) and his staff to introduce and say hi. It was not really an audition, it's just like a normal meeting, so we talked about my experiences in the Philippines,” Sandara related on how she landed the role. “Actually, I did nothing special hehe! Coz our intention in going there wasn't for audition. So we just really talked, we talked quite for a long time.. For almost an hour and I showed them my scrapbook of all my projects I have done in the Philippines, movie posters, screen caps, commercials…”

The lead character of the drama, Iljime, is a revered hero of Korea and will be played by young actor Jung Il Woo. According to Sandara, this is the actor’s first serious role that’s why Iljime is a highly anticipated drama in Korea, which is another reason why she is glad to have made it on the show. Sandara said that she finds her role on the show kind of ironic for she plays someone Japanese. “Rie is the name of my role.. Interesting coz Rie is a Japanese. I'm already in Korea yet my role is a Japanese. Hahaha! Rie, is a ninja who will meet Iljimae, he will teach martial arts to the ninjas and Rie will fall in love with her.. But will they become lovers? Well you better watch out for it! Haha!,” Sandara said, adding a joke about her former TV show on ABS-CBN.

Sandara shared her experience taping for her first drama in Korea. “It is my first project in Korea after the ‘I’m Sorry’ music video. Its different from the music video I did because this is real acting, This is a drama so I was really nervous and at the same time very excited. We had our taping in Tsushima Island, Japan which is near in Korea.. I was worried with a lot of things but the taping was fun.. No problems, the director is nice, the staff and they like methat's why it was really comfortable and fun for me to work with them.” She also became friends with the stars of the show, especially Il Woo. “I have a good working relationship with Il Woo. He's also very nice and fun to be with so our taping was really fun. I hope I can work with him again..”

She also said that she really missed working in front of the camera and this made the experience more special. “After more than one year, i'm back in the set. Even if its here in Korea, the system is just the same so many of them were surprised that I was able to adjust. Of course, I'm a krung-krung [a Filipino word which means crazy and silly] I'm used to tapings! Hehehe! We taped for just a week, so it feels like I want more but then we're already done.” She added that doing tapings in the Philippines and in Korea are very much alike that’s why she had no problem following the director’s instructions. “I think 99% is similar in doing tapings here in Korea and in the Philippines, the things that they use. For example, the marker that is being used for us to know where to stand, I know about it. I prefer myself as the marker that time, that's why they were surprised to see that I know things like that. Almost everything is just the same. We read the script with our director and he will tell us what to do, rehearsal, and then shoot.”

But what makes the taping different for Sandara is the feeling that she’s starting again from scratch, far from the days when people were screaming her name during the first Star Circle Quest search. “Its also different for me because when I was in the Philippines, I do the lead roles most of the time but right now I'm starting again. No one here in Korea knows me and my role is just small although there's no small role as an actor but its definitely different for me. Its like starting from a scratch again. I’m so happy to feel this excitement again after how many years. And I also learned that its not that important if you're the lead or not. All the roles in the drama are important. But the sad thing is no one in the set is asking for my autograph! Hahaha!” Sandara said with her usual humor.

Even though YG Entertainment’s career plans for Sandara are yet to be revealed, the young actress is very optimistic about her career in 2009 and hopes her fans will stick it out with her. “I’m also very excited about my future! As an actress? As a singer? Or both maybe?I can't tell you right now but since I’m working hard everyday to improve myself, I’m sure you will see a lot from me. Let's just wait.” And with that she left a special message to all her friends, who are eagerly waiting for her future projects. “I miss you all so much! Do you still remember me? I have some good news for you, you will see me again on TV! A Koreanovela. This is just my start so its just my "special participation". its a unique role and you’ll see me acting again. I’m sure you're pretty excited too. I hope I'll be able to visit the Philippines again and see you all. Let's just wait for my another new dream to come true. Thanks for all your support.”

The Return of Iljime started airing in Korea last January 21 on MBC and Sandara’s character will appear in the February 11 episode.

Lee-teuk of Super Junior visits Son Jae-hee

Son Jae-hee is battling cancer. The 12-year-old appeared on Star King in May 2008 and serenaded the crowd. At the same time, she fulfilled her dream of meeting the show’s host Kang Ho-dong.

Son Jae-hee was diagnosed with brain cancer on her birthday in 2007. She underwent two operations and 10 chemotherapy treatments and became much better; so much so that she appeared on the SBS variety program.

However, in December 2008, Son Jae-hee’s health took a turn for the worse. The tumor is back and it is spreading.

Super Junior’s Lee-teuk, who played the keyboard for little Jae-hee during her Star King appearance, visited the girl recently. He left her a personal message in an autographed CD.

Lee-teuk isn’t the only one who has visited Jae-hee. Kang Ho-dong dropped in on Jae-hee on Dec 23 last year. His visit was recorded for a Star King episode.

THSK's single places 1st for 4 consecutive times

Korean 5-man group THSK's 25th single "Bolero/Kiss the Baby Sky/Wasurenaide" has sold 89,000 copies, placing 1st for the 2/2 weekly single ranking.

After "Beautiful You/Sennen Koi Uta" in April, "Doumini coopere Kimi wo Sukini Natte Shimattandarou" in August, "Jumon - Mirotic" in October 2008, they received their 4th consecutive first place ranking. Including January's "Purple Line" for a total of 5 singles, they have surpassed their own record in "foreigner artist 1st place single" category.

The main song "Bolero" is the theme song for the movie "Subaru." Also including "Kiss the Baby Sky," which was used as the Japan TV Station's "Zoomin!SUPER" and "Zoomin!Sunday" programs' weather theme, as well as member-written "Wasurenaide," the 3A side single has 3 songs. Actress Meisa Kuroki has also made an interesting appearance on the CD version's cover.

2008 Star Music Industry, Advancing to Overseas Market Oustide the Grounds Confrontation

Last year the countries' top stars are abundantly active. In 2009, targeting overseas markets, the competitional face-off is still on outside their hometown. BoA and SE7EN declared their United States tour, while TVXQ, Wonder Girls and Big Bang, bands which was active in domestic last year, are turning their eyes towards the US and Japan overseas market invasion as their plans. Firstly, TVXQ's 4th album MIROTIC at the end of last year swept away all the big hit awards, and now they will once again try for the Japanese market. Already in Japan they achieved their 5th consecutive Oricon Daily Singles Number 1 song for their single Bolero (reporter wrote "Wasurenaide") as soon as it went on sale on the 21st.

This is already the sixth number 1 of TVXQ in the Oricon Daily Single Chart. At the end of the year they appeared on NHK Kohaku in the first half, proving their status in Japan. In March they will be releasing their Japanese album, and have announced the plan to focus their activities for the first half of the year there. Last year and this year TVXQ has been going on activities without pause to rise to their Korean fans' expectations. Last year, with 5 of their released Japanese singles getting number 1 in the Oricon Weekly Charts, they rose above idol group Arashi with the most number 1 record and showing strong position because of it. In the heart of Asia, including Japan, as TVXQ walks their path, they get the attention of music fans.

This year Big Bang is determined to be a star in Japan. November last year, their single With You had a local passionate reaction from the Japanese fans from it's release in the hot summer there, and plan to make aggressive attacks for the Japanese market. In late January Big Bang will start their concert as well as personal activities, with their solo singles showing off musical skills. They will also have activities in Japan this summer and a new album in Korea for the second half of the year. They will be busy with overseas activites at home and abroad. Wonder Girls' tour during the first half of the year overseas stretched out to the world as they plan to strenghten their foothold internationally staring with March 28 at the first concert in Bangkok, Thailand and then to the United States, then LA, Orange County, as well as a concert in New York to meet foreign fans. Active last year, world star Rain will also be debuting with an album in the United States, and is determined to make it as a singer there.
