According to soompi, the filmed is based on the accident in 1950 (Aug 10th).
The film is titled “71” and takes as its backdrop real events of the Korean war, in particular the August 10, 1950, incident at Pohang in north Gyeongsang province. Combat had broken out between several hundred soldiers from North Korea and 71 young student soldiers defending their homeland over a 12-hour period, which would later prove to be a pivotal moment marking a reversal in the war.
The casts are Kim Bum (Boys Over Flowers),Yoo Sung Ho and Seung Ri from Big Bang while the director is Jo Seung Hee
