Sky and Sea [하늘과 바다] is the new music-themed film for Jang Nara, wherein she plays a violinist who befriends other young musicians. On the 17th, reporters were invited down to the filming location at a university campus in Ansung, Kyeonggi province.
The cast also features singer Hyun Juny playing a rock-band vocalist, which isn’t too much of a stretch for the actress (of Beethoven Virus) who is also singer of the band Bella Mafia
The name of the film “Sky and Sea” takes on double meaning: the literal setting by the sea, and the two main characters’ names — Jang’s character is named “Haneul” (sky); Juny’s character is “Bada” (sea).
Violinist Haneul has lost both parents in a car accident and lives alone, and meets rocker chick Bada; they bond over their mutual love of music. Also featured is Yoo Ah-in (Antique Bakery).
With those three at its focus, the movie depicts young twentysomethings who turn to music to heal emotional scars. As both Juny and Jang Nara are singer-actresses, they’ll both be contributing to the OST. The movie is looking at a summer release.
