Joo Jin-mo comes back in Dream

A lot of attention has been paid to the younger actors of the upcoming SBS drama series Dream (such as F4’s playboy Kim Bum and pop singer-dancer Sohn Dam-bi), but let’s take a look at the manly-man heading the cast, shall we?
Joo Jin-mo (Frozen Flower, 200 Pound Beauty) is taking on the role of a sports agent, which means the Jerry Maguire comparisons are already trickling in. The drama features the world of mixed martial arts (which is a sport Kim Bum’s character takes up), from both the athletes’ perspectives and from the business side.
Joo’s character is the cold-hearted type who gave up both friendship and love to pursue his career. Although the character isn’t currently an athlete, he was once a baseball player, and Joo has been undergoing physical training to get in shape, for upwards of eight hours a day. To get the castmates more familiar with one another, they’ve gone on a team bonding trip, and Joo has reportedly taken on the role of hyung to hoobae Kim Bum.
Most recently, the 34-year-old Joo played a Goryeo-era king in the racy period film Frozen Flower opposite Jo In-sung, a role for which he won an Top Excellence award at the last Baeksang Arts Awards. The last drama he filmed was the (slightly crazily plotted, imo) Queen of the Game with Lee Bo-young back in 2006 (while his historical series Bichunmu aired in 2008, it was actually produced back in 2004).
The Monday-Tuesday series also features Choi Yeo-jin, Oh Dal-soo, Julien Kang, Marco, and Bae Jung-nam. It replaces Ja Myung Go in August and will begin filming mid-June.
